GIPF Regularity Contest 2001

Format: 4 ranking tournaments, of which the 3 best results per player are taken into account.


Kurt took the lead - and kept it.

Kurt Vandenbranden won the first heat of the GIPF Regularity Contest and remained in the lead until the end. He had a weak moment in the second heat, but scored 4 points in heats 3 and 4, and that was enough to be crowned as the most regular and best player of 2001 (that is, leaving everyone and everything outside the Benelux borders out of consideration). He ended just 1 point in front of Werner Dupont and Patrick Van de Perre. A representative top 3, because each of them won a heat of the GRC with 5 wins out of 5 games. More over, they were the 3 highest ranked players that participated and that is a fine constatation, because it means that the Elo-ratings are becoming more and more reliable.
11 players played 3 or 4 heats (marked with an "x" in the table below). In total 35 players participated at one of the GRC tournaments.
