Club Competition, League 4
Organization: EGO
Place: Eindhoven (NL)
Date: January - March, 2002
Participants: 11
Angelo comes close, but...
The fourth EGO league ended with a final between Ad Rovers and Angelo
Wentzler, which was won by Ad. That win also meant that he won the
competition with a minimal difference of 1 point, making him the
strongest player for four leagues in a row. And Angelo? He ended
yet again in the second place. If this may be a comfort for him:
Patrick Van de Perre and Kurt Van den Branden, the strongest Belgian
players, also started with a long list of second places, but at
the present they seem to divide all the titles amongst each other.
So, Mr. Wentzler, there's hope!
EGO has been organising leagues since january
2001 and never have there been so many eager participants. It started
with 6 players, then 8, and now a record number of 11. The newcomers
showed remarkable zeal and have adapted to the level of the rest
within a few months! It is clear that the Gipf-community in Eindhoven
is growing - and that it won't take long any more before they'll
start flooring the Belgians.
